Origin
Jammu & Kashmir
A union territory in the north-western Indian Himalayas where public programmes have introduced aromatic crops such as lavender to hill districts, with small-scale distillation capacity.
Indian Himalayas
The Indian Himalayan region spans India's northern states and union territories; its temperate valleys and high-altitude slopes support aromatic-plant cultivation distinct from lowland production.
Growing region: Hill districts of Jammu & Kashmir and the wider Indian Himalayas. Lot-level origin (district, producer group, season) is declared on batch documentation.

Notes for formulators and buyers
Regulatory note
Tagetes minuta flower oil is restricted in EU cosmetics (Annex III, entry 308): maximum 0.01 % in leave-on products, not permitted in sunscreen products or products marketed for exposure to UV light, and with an α-terthienyl content of the oil not exceeding 0.35 %. The IFRA Standard for tagetes oil and absolute restricts use in most product categories for phototoxicity and carries the same α-terthienyl specification; Tagetes erecta oil is prohibited as a fragrance ingredient under that Standard.
Buyers should verify the applicable limits for their product category against the current IFRA Amendment and their market rules. We report α-terthienyl on the batch GC-MS and supply the declarations needed to assess conformity. Tagetes oil is not in the FDA list of natural extractives at 21 CFR 182.20.
Tagetes oil is sensitive to light and air and its composition shifts with harvest stage (ocimene-, dihydrotagetone- or tagetone-rich chemotypes). Harvest stage and storage conditions are stated on the lot documentation.
